Bass Recorder to Lend
Thanks to the generosity of a former member, we have a bass recorder to lend to someone who's interested in learning to play. We'll bring it to the February meeting.

Egidius Quartet- Dutch Vocal Ensemble- in Durham, March 21
The esteemed Dutch vocal quartet Egidius will give a concert on March 21 in the recently renovated and acoustically thrilling First Presbyterian Church in downtown Durham. They will be coming here directly from concerts in Washington, DC. Here's your opportunity to support early music in the Triangle! We need angels to help produce this concert. For information, contact Pat at 919 683-9672, patpetersen at earthlink.net. "The Egidius Kwartet is such an incredibly beautiful, pure quartet!"

A NOTE FROM KATHY SCHENLEY TO LONG-TIME MEMBERS

Dear friends – I got a call last night (January 28) from Helen Jenner's son Stephen. (Helen Jenner was the TRS Music Director for MANY years.) He asked me to let folks know about Helen's situation. Several days ago, Helen blacked out and fell, breaking a vertebra in her back. She will be having surgery at Duke in about a week. They will use a new procedure to basically glue the broken vertebra to the intact ones beside it. Stephen says that she is an excellent candidate for this surgery and that the prognosis is very good for her to eventually have a fairly high level of mobility and be able to live independently. The recovery will take a lot of time and physical therapy. Currently, Helen is in a nursing home as she waits for surgery. Here's the address: The Laurels of Forest Glenn 1101 Hartwell Street Garner NC 27529. She has a cell phone: 415-515-0671 (don't leave a voice mail message, as she can’t access it).

For those of you close enough to visit, take I-40 east around Raleigh, then exit 298A for Highway 70E/ 50S. About 3 and a half miles down highway 70, take Vandora Springs Road ramp, turn right very shortly, turn left on 7th Avenue, then right on Hartwell St. Stephen says she would love visitors.

I will keep you posted on her condition.
